Frequently asked
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes, the timer is JavaScript-based and continues as long as the tab is open. Some browsers throttle background tabs, so keep this tab visible if you want second-perfect accuracy.
Why a long break every fourth cycle?
Francesco Cirillo's original Pomodoro Technique calls for a 15–30 minute long break after four focus rounds. Research on attention recovery (Ariga & Lleras, 2011) supports the idea that brief, scheduled breaks restore concentration.
Can I change the lengths?
Yes. The sidebar accepts custom values for focus, short break, long break, and 'long break every N' cycles.
